A Map of Historical Markers at Elon

In 2018, Elon put up seven historical plaques around campus in an effort lead by late Elon University historian and professor emeritus, George Troxler.

“I think he really envisioned it as a, as a way for those in the physical space to engage with the past,” says university archivist Chrystal Carpenter. “I think by having physical markers around campus, the thought was that people might just see them, and then they would engage and like, learn a little something about the, the physical environment, and in some way, the campus as a whole in these in these spaces.”

The seven markers are plotted on an interactive map below. Location coordinates, notes, photos and sometimes video accompany each marked site.
